Community development
Makorongo is one of thirteen parishes in the Diocese taking part in the Church and Community Mobilization Programme (CCMP).
The CCMP is a Bible-based, guided training approach that a local church can use with its community to identify the resources they have, then, working together, bring about long-lasting, whole-life change. As local communities work through the process, they decide which activities will bring about the most effective and positive outcomes for them given their current situations.
One of the impacts has been that the church decided to start a 'home visitation programme' to reach out to the neediest in their community. They also set up a monthly open market. The formation of Savings Group's helped to fund projects at Khubunko, such as building the catechist's house and cementing the church floor. Members of the Church were also motivated to save money and purchase a new music system too, which they have used in a public crusade to spread the gospel at the open market.
