Community development.
Hamia is one of seventeen parishes taking part in the Church and Community Mobilisation Programme (CCMP). The CCMP is a Bible-based, guided training approach that local churches are using with their communities to identify the resources they have, then, working together, bring about long-lasting, whole-life change. As local communities work through the process, they decide which activities will bring about the most effective and positive outcomes for them given their current situations.
CCMP impacts.
Hamia is one of the prominent villages in the area and has rich fertile soil that allows a variety of crops to grow well. But the people living here had been renting out their land and either living off the rental income or working as casual laborers.
The CCMP bible-studies taught people about using their God-given natural resources to help improve their lives. This teaching changed perceptions, and people are now farming the land themselves and have more income.
The church has become stronger as people’s faith has increased. Church members are helping to meet the financial cost of running the church and contributing to the pastor’s stipend. They have also constructed a modern house for the pastor.
The self-help groups are: Tobai. Magawa, Tumaini, Mbuyuni and Mkombozi. These are helping people to save money together to invest in farming and livestock projects and start small businesses.
The pastor's new house below started as a result of the CCMP and Rebecka Habel, the pastor's wife, has put the CCMP training on climate-smart agriculture into practice, by extending their land and growing a wider variety of crops.

The increase in economic independence means that Individuals are improving their homes, or building new houses, and are able to pay their children’s school fees.
