The parish experienced severe flooding in 2008.  Since then, the parish has planted flood-tolerant sugar cane, near to the church for flood resilience.

The picture below was taken during the visit from the Diocese of Rochester in April 2024.

Community Development

From 2026 to 2028 the parish is one of nine parishes taking part in the Church and Community Mobilization Prograrrme (CCMP). They join seventeen parishes that have already taken part in the education and training since 2018.

The CCMP is run by the Department of Development and plays a key role in diocesan life. It combines evangelism, discipleship and self-reliance. Through savings groups, small business training and practical support, people are learning new skills, growing in confidence, supporting their families, and building a network of local leaders.

Three facilitators from the parish will participate in workshops that include Bible studies, community relationship building, resource mobilization, the formation and management of savings and credit groups, data collection, analysis and decision-making, social awareness, business skills, climate-smart agriculture and environmental conservation. They will then put the training into practice within the parish and community.
